We will learn all four basic language
skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing), but the emphasis will
be on developing proficiency in oral/aural communication.
The content of German 101 can be divided into three categories: basic language
and vocabulary used in common situational contexts (asking for information,
interviews, shopping);basic grammar structures (including present tense, present
perfect, modal verbs, accusative and dative cases, and temporal and local
prepositions); and contemporary cultural and historical information about
German speaking countries presented in a comparative context (German newspapers,
selected German language authors, comparison of Germany, Austria and Switzerland).
