Course Requirements / Expectations
Attendance and participation:
Our class meets twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Attendance at all sessions is mandatory, participation is absolutely essential.
Make sure you always come to class, preferably a few minutes before it actually starts. It is impossible to make up classroom work in most instances.
Should you anticipate being absent, discuss this with me ahead of time.
Conscientious preparation for each class session:
You will get more out of class time when you are prepared, and it's more fun too!
We will have many quizzes, announced or unannounced, 5-10 minutes in length. The quizzes will typically test vocabulary, but may also cover the work in class as well as homework assignments. Absolutely no make-up quizzes will be given. Test dates will always be announced in advance. Make-up tests can only be rescheduled in the event of serious illness or family emergency.
Homework /Vocabulary and Grammar/:
All assignments will appear on the blackboard and are due on the assigned day. Simply place written work on the teacher's desk as you enter the classroom and be prepared to respond to anything orally. Late work will not be accepted. Be sure to check returned homework and correct the errors that are marked. You are responsible for the vocabulary and grammar sections at the end of each chapter and whatever we cover in class.
Computer Lab:
Use of the language lab is expected. Each chapter of the workbook has a lab section which you will turn in. An audiocassette program that you will use with the workbook and a writing/grammar activities CD will be available soon.
