Course Requirements / Expectations

Attendance and participation:

Our virtual class will meet Thursdays on Paltalk at 4PM. Attendance at all sessions is mandatory, participation is absolutely essential. We have 16 meetings this semester.

Make sure you always come to "virtual" class, preferably a few minutes before it actually starts.

It is impossible to make up "classroom" work in most instances.

Should you anticipate being absent, discuss (email or phone) this with me ahead of time. Please feel free to attend our "regular" class in K-4 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:30 - 1:50 anytime you want to.

Conscientious preparation for each class session:

You will get more out of class time when you are prepared, and it's more fun too! Keep up with the homework (die Hausaufgaben) don't let yourself fall behind.

We will have many quizzes, announced or unannounced, 5-10 minutes in length. The quizzes will typically test vocabulary, but may also cover the work in class as well as homework assignments. Absolutely no make-up quizzes will be given. Chapter Test Dates will always be announced in advance. Make-up tests can only be rescheduled in the event of serious illness or family emergency.

Homework /Vocabulary and Grammar:

All assignments will appear on our website and are due on the day assigned. Written work can be sent via attachment with MS Word or simply copy and paste it into an email: djakubo@silcom.com.
Late work will not be accepted. Be sure to check returned homework and correct the errors that are marked. You are responsible for the vocabulary and grammar sections at the end of each chapter and whatever we cover in the virtual class.

Computer Lab:

Use of the language lab is expected. Each chapter of the workbook has a lab section which you will turn in. A CD program to be used with the workbook for writing/grammar activities is available on our website (the link is on the Homepage under Hörverständnis) or use it in the language lab.
